Our School Library

Our school library was opened as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations in 2017 and has grown from 500 books to over 3300.  We now have a great range of fiction and non-fiction books for all ages and abilities. Each child has their own library card and book bag, and they can borrow a book for up to three weeks if they wish.  Each class attends the library once a week when children have a chance to browse the books and change their book.  There is a couch with removable cushions for storytime for the Infant classes.  We have introduced a different theme for each month for the children to have the opportunity to read books and view posters on assorted topics - Nature, Halloween, Science, Christmas, Gaeilge, History & Geography, SPHE.  Children regularly get stickers and bookmarks to encourage reading.

We are always adding books to our library - parents and children have been very generous with book donations and our PTA have been a great source of help with funding.  We run a Book Fair every two years which the children love and the proceeds of this go to buying new books for either our classroom libraries or our main library.  Every year for World Book Day, we have the full set of World Book Day books for the children to browse and borrow.

To celebrate the re-opening of our library in March 2022 after it being closed for two years during the pandemic, we ran a colouring competition for the children  - we asked them to draw or colour in their favourite book character.  We were very impressed with the standard of entries and it was very difficult to choose a winner in each class!
